An american scientist claimed the other day that within five years cars, bikes and scooters will be build that needs neither tires nor good roads. The vehicles will be carried just above the ground or water by a pillow of air.
This is not a madman dream. Airplane factories both in Europe and in America have people experimenting on this now. The first prototype, the Hoovercraft have already been tested in the English canal.
Vehicles of this type "flies" above the ground or sea in a height of between 50 and 100 cm and they are kept up by air pressure that is creating a "pillow" of air. The advantages is that lifting the vehicle only this high takes a minimum of power compared with what it takes to lift an airplane or a helicopter.
This has to be just a product of the artists imagination, But no, The two-seater is being build by the National Research associates in Washington. It will have a top speed of 100 km/h and lands on four small wheels.
Here is the helicopter factory Bell’s hoover scooter under testing. Bell reckons that the scooter will cost about 300 $ when set in mass production.
This hoover scooter was build at Princeton university. It is powered by a 16 hp motorcycle engine and is so easy to build that any handy amateur can do it.

And here is a Jeep like construction build by American army engineers. Due to the air pillow no kind of terrain will be able to stop it.
The American navy is in on creating these revolutionary vehicles as well. This is the test model "Skimmer" and it will lay the ground for constructing larger crafts.
The car for the future by Ford. The man at the wheel of this "levacar" is Dr. Andrew Kucher – He started to experiment with these kind of vehicles as early as 1928.

Have you seen many hoovering marvels out there lately, or can we safely mark this up as another fiasco. I guess we can – Ted
