Albert Joseph Pénot
(1862–1930) was a French painter known for female nudes. Today, he is more popularly and specifically recognized for a subset of paintings centring on women of darker, more macabre themes.

a12127_a_penot_02a12127_a_penot_03

Styles and themes

Pénot was concerned first and foremost with anatomically accurate portrayals of women. Singular female forms were the implicit focus of his work, whereas the worlds surrounding his characters are seldom realized beyond misty atmospheres and patches of shadow and light. Environments are incidental and are typically shrouded in haze, giving the figures themselves explicit priority. However, Pénot was more versatile in his artistry, and was not confined exclusively to female nudes: church figures were another of his subjects, in addition to occasional compositions depicting scenes of men and women from high society in narratives framed by more conventional settings.

Frills, Freckles & Flesh

When Fran Ormand first aspired to a career as a professional model, some friends gloomily predicted her freckles would either eliminate her completely from consideration, or else limit her severely. The many appearances of Fran’s lovely features in commercial ads is proof of just how wrong everyone was.

Angelo Saxons pride themselves on their cultural contributions to the world. The British consider that they are carrying on the tradition of their ancestors by maintaining these standards in all forms of the arts and sciences . Little did we know when we met lovely Maria Clarance in London, that we were going to have to prove that we too are trying to maintain not only a distinct artistic and individual photographic style, but interesting and lively Iiterazy, copy as well. Maria Clarance made these demands of us, and since we wanted to use her services as a model, we were willing to submit to her … request.

Lucretia Love
is an Italian film actress. She is often credited under the name Lucrezia Love and has appeared in thirty-six films. Her first professional film work was the 1965 Italian romantic comedy, appropriately titled Love Italian Style.

a1141_ Lucretia Love_07

Lucretia’s first work in the horror genre was the 1966 low-budget Michael Reeves film She Beast, in which she played the niece of another character named Groper. In 1967 she played a character named Janet in Colt in the Hand of the Devil, but this was a western and really had nothing to do with the Devil at all.

a1141_ Lucretia Love_08a1141_ Lucretia Love_09

In 1968, Lucretia played Mike Shevlove in the Ruggero Deodato sci-fi/superhero film Phenomenal and the Treasure of Tutankamen. The movie featured characters attempting to plunder an Egyptian tomb, which is actually a common theme in many Universal Pictures films of the 1940s, in particular, the Mummy films.

a1141_ Lucretia Love_03a1141_ Lucretia Love_04

In 1971, Lucretia appeared in another film with the word "Devil" in the title, Osvaldo Civirani’s The Devil Has Seven Faces, which was actually a drama. 1974 saw another "Devil" themed film, this one though actually is a horror movie; Enter the Devil by Mario Gariazzo, which in Italy was titled L’ossessa. Lucretia received third billing in the film playing a character named Luisa.

a1141_ Lucretia Love_05a1141_ Lucretia Love_10

Lucretia’s final film work was the 1980 horror/comedy Dr. Heckyl and Mr. Hype written and directed by Charles B. Griffith and starring Oliver Reed. Lucretia played the role of Debra Kate.

Hilda Isabel Korindo Sarli (Spanish pronunciation: [isaˈβel ˈsarli]; born 9 July 1935), nicknamed Coca, is a retiredArgentine actress and glamour model, known for her campy sexploitation films. Sarli is a considered a cultural iconand the quintessential sex symbol in her home country.

829_sarli_07829_sarli_08

Career

She was discovered by filmmaker Armando Bó after she became Miss Argentina in 1955. She became the star of his films, starting with El Trueno entre las hojas in 1956. The film has since become a cult classic as the first Argentine feature-length with full frontal nudity in it. She went on to become an international Latin American star, filming in Brazil,Uruguay, Paraguay, Mexico, Panama and Venezuela and films like Fuego (1969) and Fiebre (1970) reached the American and European markets.

829_sarli_01829_sarli_03

Bó later insisted in casting her in naturalistic melodramas. After his death in 1981, Sarli retired from the cinema industry altogether but came back in the mid-90s for Jorge Polaco‘s picaresque film, La Dama Regresa (1996). The film was inspired largely on her life and public image, serving as an homage of sorts. In 2009 she teamed once more with Polaco in Arroz con leche for a bit part.

forgotten onesa1114_Feri Cansel_01
Feriha "Feri" Cansel
(7 July 1944 – 2 September 1983) was a Turkish Cypriot actress.

She was born Lefkoşa (Nicosia), Cyprus and spent her early youth in the United Kingdom, acquiring British citizenship and she became a hairdresser in London. Once settled in Turkey, she also obtained Turkish citizenship, marrying for convenience the janitor of the block of apartments in İstanbul where she lived concluding for that purpose. She started in show business as a show stripper and she appeared in her first film in 1964.

a1114_Feri Cansel_08a1114_Feri Cansel_09

Career

She started her acting career with secondary roles in Turkish cinema‘s mainstream movies, and who attained fame after she started to appear in seks filmleri, a particular genre of which had developed in Turkey in the mid-1970s to last until the eve of the 1980s. Her name became synonymous with the then rising wave of films of the genre, with a much reduced story line and a soft- to mid-hardcore pornographical content arranged to match the tastes of local audiences often disguised as comedy films. In this regard, Feri Cansel held the same title as such other cult actresses of the time as Zerrin Egeliler, Arzu Okay, Zerrin Doğan and Figen Han.

a1114_Feri Cansel_02a1114_Feri Cansel_04

According to the Sinematürk database of Turkish films, Feri Cansel’s career spanned 18 years during which she acted in 136 films. 120 of these films can be categorized as belonging in the erotic line. Cansel herself, on the other hand, claimed in 1978 that she had by then appeared in 350 erotic movies. Both figures could make Cansel win the career-long title for the highest number of erotic Turkish movies made by any actor/actress.

a1114_Feri Cansel_06a1114_Feri Cansel_05

The difference between the two figures is explained by the extensive practice at the time by the film producers, who viewed films that were shot not as parts of a single work but merely as source material for production of multiple films, to cut and paste. Erotic scenes, especially, were often cut and pasted to assemble new films from various parts of existing ones. This peculiar practice was called "parça" (literally the "fragment"), and the term was extended into the movie theaters themselves to include the practice by the operators of inserting hardcore material, which was European most of the time, into Turkish "erotic" films.

a1114_Feri Cansel_07a1114_Feri Cansel_10

Cansel’s liberal use of foul language in her films earned her the nickname of Emmanuelle of Kasımpaşa, a popular quarter of Istanbul notorious for its peculiar speech rich in slang.

She was killed by her fiancé in İstanbul in 1983. Cansel was survived by her daughter İlter Özcan who is also an actress with the alias "Zümrüt Cansel".
