Them were a Northern Irish band formed in Belfast in April 1964, most prominently known for the garage rock standard "Gloria" and launching singer Van Morrison’s musical career. The original five member band consisted of Morrison, Alan Henderson, Ronnie Millings, Billy Harrison and Eric Wrixon. The group was marketed in the United States as part of the British Invasion.

Them scored two UK hits in 1965 with "Baby, Please Don’t Go" (UK #10) and "Here Comes the Night" (UK #2, Ireland #2). The latter song and "Mystic Eyes"" were Top 40 hits in the US.

Morrison quit the band in 1966 and went on to a successful career as a solo artist. Although Them had a short-lived existence, the Belfast group had considerable influence on other bands, such as The Doors.

The Move, from Birmingham, England, were one of the leading British rock bands of the 1960s. They scored nine Top 20 UK singles in five years, but were among the most popular British bands not to find any success in the United States.

Although bassist-vocalist Chris “Ace” Kefford was the original leader, for most of their career The Move was led by guitarist, singer and songwriter Roy Wood. He composed all the group’s UK singles and, from 1968, also sang lead vocals on many songs, although Carl Wayne was the main lead singer up to 1970. Initially the band had 4 main vocalists (Wayne, Wood, Trevor Burton and Kefford).

My New Vodpod Account

Since the free accounts on Vodpod only give you the opportunity to have 3 different collections I have reduced the British Classics to two collections and named the last one “Other Favourites”. Although I’m crazy about British music from the sixties and seventies I do actually like other kind of music as well , for instance Sam Cooke and Mavis Staples, who were the first two I added to the new “Other Favourites” collection– Ted
