Paul Abraham is a pastor of the Free Church congregation "Blissful Victory" and a man who can lead one to wonder where in the world the concept of the gentle South is coming from. His congregation consists of a barren band of the darkest dark men Norwegian Christian life can offer. In his meetings women should keep silent, for salvation will obviously prevail completely without their help.
Paul Abraham lives normally in a narrow and deep valley in the south part of Norway, where he preach his somewhat twisted biblical interpretation and engages in polygamy as do the rest of the warped brethren. When not engaged in harassing his wives into silence and subservience he travels to Oslo trying to bring new members to his meagre congregation. Here he lives at the YMCA.
Paul Abraham and the rest of the oddballs in "Blissful Victory" has the idea that dancing leads youth into a sinful life full of adultery and other abominations so they are strongly opposed to music of any sort and especially accordion music. This attitude has brought them in trouble with the Police’s Security Service on several occasions.
What Paul Abraham does at a café like Moxie’s as his somewhat warped beliefs do not allow him any beverages other than lukewarm water and unpasteurized goat’s milk. And the chances of finding souls to save at Moxie’s is as you may have discovered rather meagre. But like so many of his kind, he is possibly there just to bask in his own religious excellence. His kind usually do that best among sinners.
Eivor Marie Solvang Sylte is of course a thorn in Paul Abraham’s side at Moxie’s and he never let a chance go by to tell her what he thinks about women’s place in christian congregations according to his somewhat narrow view of this. And she on the other side loves telling him how she perceives the situation. The discussions are usually loud something the rest of the regulars and the employees at Moxie’s find highly entertaining.
