Where room furnishings include facing sofas, a matching pair of narrow sofa tables stand by ready to relieve the dining problem at large family gatherings. Used alone, side by side or placed one at each end of the regular dining table, they provide a quick-change setup that is ideal for cramped living quarters. This project gives you a simple, rugged construction, use pine or fir and then stain.

page_illEnd tables are sometimes too much with us in the average room. We can, however, enjoy their convenience or dispense with them at will if they are of the folding type Shown here.

When the gate is open, it locks into a homemade wooden catch. The hinges are recessed into the underside of the top. Dowels are used at all the joints. The gate may in fact, be made with legs of 7/8" dowels instead of with the square ones shown. When closed, the swinging leg fits into notches cut into the top and bottom crosspieces.

Breakfast Nook
That Folds Against The wall

From its appearance when folded, one would never suspect that the compact unit could be lowered to make a sturdy breakfast nook. It is just the thing for the small home or apartment, and it can be made inexpensively with hand tools.

sled_illYou haven’t exhausted all the possibilities of sled construction till you’ve made this little gadget. It’s nothing more than a chair mounted on a pair of runners.

I made a a similar one when I was a kid. It was simply a kitchen tabouret mounted on a pair of shortened skis. Not the safest way to go down a steep hill, but great fun – Ted
