INGREDIENTS
I cabbage head
2 teaspoons of caraway
2 apples (not too soft)
1 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons of sugar
2 tablespoons of vinegar
Remove the outer layers of the cabbage. Cut the rest in as thin slices as you can. Peel the apples, remove the core and cut the rest in as thin slicers as you can.
Lay the cabbage, apples and salt in as many layers as you prefer in a saucepan. Add about 1 deciliter of water and let it boil for 45 minutes. Add sugar and vinegar to taste.
You can use red cabbage instead of the usual one and then we call it “rødkål” here in Norway. This makes for a smoother, milder dish -Ted
