How to tell which card represents you
(see text below)
Is it not tempting when a pack of cards is laid on the table to try to "make them speak"? A pleasant pastime to which one attaches nothing but to which one returns willingly, for all the little signs seem to mean something. Will you try ? To do this, take 32 cards, classing them by suit, i.e., Clubs together, etc., ‘ then in order taking the Ace, King, Queen Knave, ten, nine, eight and seven. Look at the table below which will give you the meaning of each card. The five cards with a number should be marked with a cross in one corner as they have a double significance, according as to whether they are the right or the reverse way up (see table).
You carefully shuffle your cards, then cut them and take them seven by seven, putting each seventh card on the table, from left to right, which will give you four cards. You do this twice more, which gives you twelve cards. If you are a blonde and the Queen of Hearts is not in the hand of twelve cards (see illustration above) you take her from the pack; if the opposite is the case take a card at random from the pack. You will thus have thirteen cards. Besides their own significance when several cards of the same denomination are in the hand, they have another significance.
