When I grew old enough to be interested in music the great battle between Beatles and Stones fans was on, British pop music was king here in Norway in those days. We had just started school and our tastes was ruled more by what the more popular boys in our class thought at the moment than the music it self.
Luckily that didn’t last too long and we developed our own tastes, but the British bands were still kings. Groups like The Animals, The Kinks, The Hollies, Small Faces and later on the marvellous music of the British Blues Boom, Fleetwood Mac, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and Chicken Shack. And at the same time the British folk scene arrived, Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span and my particular favourite, Lindisfarne. Bands I still listen to with great pleasure to day. All these bands and many other British ones formed my tastes in music for the rest of my life.
The fog on the Tyne – Lindisfarne
These pages are dedicated to this music, from the emerge of the Mersey Beat to the super groups of the mid seventies. The music of my youth and the foundation that my musical tastes as a grown man is build upon.
Enjoy.
