A recipe from the “The Cook’s Book” published by Jaques MFG Co. in 1933
1/3 cup butter (2 2/3 oz.)
1/4 cup sugar (2 0z.)
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
2 cups pastry flour (8 oz.)
2 level teaspoonfuls K C Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoonful salt
Scant 1/2 pound dates
Cream the butter, add the sugar and the egg, beaten light. Sift together, three times, the flour, baking powder and salt; add these to the first mixture, alternately with the milk; beat thoroughly and add the dates, cut in pieces, Bake in well-buttered muffin pan in a moderate oven, 375o F. for about twenty-five minutes.
