This MySpace Profile was created by Robert T. Reddell  in memory of  his late Aunt Joan Reddell. Joan’s family are still trying to find more information regarding her life and other models she may have known.

117344_jer2Om meg:
My modeling name was Joan Rydell, I used another modeling name of Eve Rydell. I was born in 1917 in Wilkesbarre, PA, and passed away in 7/11/1967 in North Field Atlantic City, NJ. I modeled for Irving and Paula Klaw. I met and married John "Jack" Bradley while modeling, he was a photographer for Irving. We had three children.

In 1921 I traveled to Costa Rica on a cruise.

I worked with many other famous models and burlesque strippers and actresses. Some of them are Cocoa Brown, Roz Greenwood, Lois Meridian, Shirley Maitland, even Betty Page. I lived in New York, I was dating a married man in 1946 who was not happy that I was going to pose for Irving and Paula Klaw at MSN Moive Star News, we got into a fight, I was beaten and left for dead in a tub full of water. I was pronounced dead at the time but later revived. I was in a comma for a few weeks in Knickerbocker hospital.

117344_jer3I later Married Jack Bradley and we finally moved to Atlantic City, where Jack became a photographer of the stars such as Jerry Lewis, Dean Martin, The Marx Brothers, Sammy Davis Jr. and many many more.

I modeled for many magazines such as Titter, Wink, Flirt, Beauty Parade, Whisper and several others, during the 1940s and 1950s. My real name was Joan Eva Reddell, My parents were Constance Rose and Adam Terrance Reddell. I had several siblings, Irene, Adam, Terreance, Leon, and Leonard. I passed away from cervical cancer. After a long illness and a very fast paced life.

Britt Christina Marinette Lindberg (born 6 December 1950, in Gothenburg, Sweden) is a Swedish journalist known internationally for her work as an actress and glamour model in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Biography
Lindberg grew up in a working class home in Annedal, Gothenburg, together with her sister and three brothers. She studied Latin at school and planned to continue her studies in archeology.

Modeling career
During her high school years (she was around 18 years old) she started posing nude for men’s magazines, such as FIB aktuellt and Lektyr, after having garnered some attention posing in bathing suits for newspapers. She later appeared in men’s magazines such as Penthouse (UK), Playboy (U.S.), Lui (France) and Mayfair (UK). She was a Penthouse Pet in the June 1970 issue of Penthouse.

117321_cl3 117321_cl2 117321_cl4

Film career
Lindberg has appeared or starred in 23 feature films, most of which are erotica, exploitation or softcore pictures. Her first movie was an American production (Maid in Sweden), filmed in Sweden with a Swedish cast. She got her second role in Jan Halldoff’s comedy Rötmånad which was released in 1970. The film was seen by over 250,000 Swedes and went on to become a commercial success. Her third film, Exponerad, was released with a lot of hype at the Cannes festival in 1971 and turned her into an international celebrity.

A long string of exploitation films followed, many of which were filmed in Germany and Japan. As part of the marketing campaign for Exponerad she also went on a publicity trip to Japan, which later resulted in an invitation to appear in Japanese exploitation films. In Japan she played a major supporting role in Norifumi Suzuki’s Pink film classic Sex & Fury. In 1972 she starred as Madeleine in Bo A. Vibenius’s controversial film Thriller – en grym film. Director Quentin Tarantino expressed his admiration for both the film and Lindberg’s performance, and Madeleine later served as an inspiration for Uma Thurman‘s character in Tarantino’s Kill Bill films. In Kill Bill he also borrowed elements from Sex & Fury. In the action-comedy spoof Sex, lögner & videovåld Lindberg made a brief cameo as Madeleine.

117321_cl5 117321_cl6 117321_cl7

Lindberg did not like that nude pictures were getting more and more explicit and during the filming of Gerard Damiano‘s Flossie (AKA Natalie–not to be confused with a 1974 film of the same name, which was directed by Mac Ahlberg and starred Marie Forså) in West Germany—she left the set and returned home to Sweden. Damiano (who also directed the infamous Deep Throat) persuaded Lindberg to leave because he knew that it was going to be a hardcore film. For several years the German producer tried to bring her back in an attempt to complete the film. According to Videooze (No. 8, 1996), about 1,000 meters of film had been shot by Damiano. Production stopped and never resumed.

Post film career
In her introduction to Daniel Ekeroth’s book Swedish Sensationsfilms: A Clandestine History of Sex, Thrillers, and Kicker Cinema, Christina Lindberg explains that after leaving exploitation films behind, she has been busy with numerous other projects. In 1972 she met future fiancé Bo Sehlberg and later started to work for his aviation magazine Flygrevyn. When Sehlberg died in 2004, Lindberg took over ownership and the position as editor-in-chief of the magazine—which is the largest aviation magazine in Scandinavia. She has also produced an instructional video on how to pick and prepare mushrooms, Christinas Svampskola, and is very passionate about preserving the Swedish wolf. She made an attempt to enter the theater school Scenskolan in 1975 after having taken private lessons from Öllegård Wellton, but failed after having passed two out of three tests. She continued posing and writing for men’s magazines while studying journalism at Poppius, and she eventually established herself as a journalist. In 2007 she announced that she would start an acting school.

Theatrical releases
On 6 October 2007 The Institute of Contemporary Arts in London screened a double bill of Anita and Exposed. Following the screening of Anita there was a Q&A with Christina Lindberg, she then introduced the second part of the double bill Exposed.

117204_blFor fans of classic 50’s men’s magazines, there are some pin-up models that just stand out and that’s not an easy thing considering the hundreds of women who graced the pages of dozens publications. West Coast nightclub singer Bonnie Logan is one such woman.

She also went by the name Laura Lee. In all of her photo shoots, mostly done by quirky photographer Earl Leaf, there is always this electrical sultriness and exotic quality. Usually the goal of women getting on the pages of  magazines like Adam and Sir Knight was to further her career in other fields, mostly burlesque or acting. Sometimes it worked wonders. Most of the time, as in Logan’s case, her fame was limited to a few more nightclub bookings and a future where only fans of retro culture would know her.

In fact, her appearance on the cover of Girl Watcher #2 along with June Wilkinson is very sought after by collectors.

Recreated from an article in the men’s magazine Eve No 3 from 1962

Gentlemen, this is it! Britain’s answer to the French kitten, Bridgette Bardot. Her name is Rosina Revelle, five feet three inches of pure dynamite.

img_01Got your breath back yet? … Good. Now, we’ll get on a little further.

It’s not hard to figure out why Rosina is being heralded as Britain’s Bardot. Even though she has many inches that Bardot hasn’t, at least she has them in the right places.

img_03Rosina was an usherette in a movie house before she was spotted, that is by the right people, of course. With’ a figure like hers it is sheer waste to keep it hidden away in the dark of a cinema. Something like this has to be seen so it wasn’t long before Rosina was modelling with great success. Photographers from all over the globe were clamouring for her services and her photographs were appearing in magazines all around the world.

Today Rosina Revel is quite a celebrity herself from her small suburban home to her apartment in London she is really beginning to live. She has a wardrobe that would be the envy of most women. She says she has over a hundred and fifty gowns of various descriptions. Recently she bought herself a small sports car and is fast becoming the terror of the English countryside. We say this in a humorous vein for we have driven with Rosina and she is in fact a very competent driver. Although as most young people like to do, she loves to drive fast and of course, in Britain there are many roads without any speed limits.

img_04

And so we have another success story, for in a few short years Rosina has progressed from an usherette to a top model, from tight suburban living to gaiety at Mayfair. She has progressed from being an unknown woman to being a celebrity. It really does our hearts good to see things going on in the world like this. So maybe there are more young contenders who will be encouraged by Rosina’s success and they, too, will be able to delight the eyes of our readers in the near future.

img_02

img_05

Honestly, it took more than a smashing set of knockers to compete with Brigitte Bardot back in the fifties and sixties.  By the time Rosina was 16 her measurements were 46-26-38 and her place in history was assured … which is just as well, because by the time she was 19, her parents finally found out what she was doing. She never modelled again – Ted

Debee Ashby (born 2 July 1967 in Coventry) is a former English adult model and actress. She is also known as Debbie Ashby or Debby Ashby.

Ashby became well known at the age of 16 years when she was expelled from King Henry VIII School, Coventry on 16 December 1983 because she had posed topless in her school uniform for the men’s magazine Men Only. This received wide attention in the British media, and she was soon posing nude for The Sun, with her mother, Anne Ashby, posing topless. She continued to model as a Page Three girl, and she also worked as an actress in adult videos such as Electric Blue, Sexy Secrets of the Sex Therapist, Breast of Britain and The Page 3 Girls.

116839_jmIn the back pages of various men’s magazines during the 1950’s and 60’s you would see countless ads for 8 mm loops or photo sets that would come to you door in plain brown envelopes. These were the sets that were more daring and leaned more toward S&M and fetish shots. One of the best known photographer and distributor of these kinds of photos was Irving Klaw.

Klaw was the same man who fed a hungry male populous a steady diet of photos featuring Bettie Page, Lili St. Cyr, Tempest Storm, Blaze Starr, and the like. If the model wasn’t a burlesque dancer, then Klaw usual posed them as the classic "kitten-with-a-whip". Tamer than his out-and-out bondage photos, this persona had just enough female domination to satisfy those who were tired of the run-of-the-mill blonde bombshell. Redhead Jackie Miller, with her impressive 5′ 11” 40-26-38 figure, fit Klaw’s fetish role perfectly.  She could give you a charming smile one minute, and the next hit you with a coquettish pout.

Before her work with Klaw, Miller was a showgirl in the Miami area and did modeling for the one-and-only Bunny Yeager. With Yeager you get models posed on sunlit beaches, with Klaw you get them on couches inside New York studios. Like Bettie Page, Miller was able to transition easily between these two worlds for a while, but as her career progressed, Miller wound up posing for more of the Klaw-esque indoor fetish shots. In all probability, Miller was another victim of pin-up model typecasting. Just like an actor who plays their role too well, Miller just looked too good in impossible heels and corsets.

11637_mm1For some, being a glamor model helps their career, for others its the quickest way of being typecast. Such is the case with Meg Myles. In the beginning of her career, she was in heavy demand as a pin-up girl. She was adored by many men’s magazine readers, especially G.I.’s for her astounding 42-24-36 measurements. The 1950’s, of course, was the era of bosomy glamour girls, and Myles could out-bust the best of them. The problem for Myles was that she wanted to do something more than just look good with her chest sticking out. She tried her hand at the movie and television in the 50’s with little success. She then went on to a singing career which was cut short by a false tabloid scandal supposedly involving her and Sammy Davis Jr. In the 1960’s she tired her hand once more at movies, appearing in the cult classic Satan In High Heels (1962) along with fellow bombshell Sabrina. Following that, and continuing for the next few decades, Myles found a successful career for herself in theater winning much critical praise.

June Wilkinson is an English model and actress, known for her appearances in Playboy magazine and in films of the 1960s. One of the world’s most-photographed women in the late 1950s and early 1960s, at the height of her career she was called “the most photographed nude in America”.

June Wilkinson7Life and career
June Wilkinson was born 27 March 1940 in Eastbourne, England. Having started as a stage performer at the age of 12, she went on to become the youngest topless dancer, at the age of 15, at the Windmill Theatre in London from 1957 to 1958. During a promotional tour in the United States, she was discovered by Hugh Hefner. Her first appearance in Playboy, in September 1958, was titled “The Bosom”. She was a brunette in those days, but in later shoots she was a blonde.

Wilkinson’s second Playboy appearance was photographed by Russ Meyer. Meyer was an independent photographer at the time, and filming his ground-breaking The Immoral Mr. Teas (1959). Because she was under contract to Seven Arts at the time, Wilkinson could not officially appear in Meyer’s film. However, as an uncredited and unpaid favour to the director, Wilkinson’s breasts can be seen through a window in one scene.

Wilkinson appeared in Playboy again in August 1959 in a spread titled “The Bosom in Hollywood.” During this period, she appeared with Spike Jones’s band, together with actor Billy Barty. Recalling this period in her career, Wilkinson later remembered Barty with affection, but commented that Jones, off-stage, had no sense of humour. In 1960, Wilkinson was featured in Playboy four times, in June, July, August, October, and again in November. Her feature in the November issue was titled “The Bosom Revisits Playboy”. Wilkinson appeared in the 1960 voodoo film, Macumba Love, which promoted her measurements as “44-20-36”. At times reported as up to “45-22-35”, in 1963 Wilkinson stated that her measurements were actually “40-22-35”.

june wilkinson11

In 1961 Wilkinson made several stage appearances on the U.S. West coast with performers such as Louis Jordan in Marriage Go Round, Silvia Sidney in Come Blow Your Horn and Milton Berle in Norman, Is That You?. She had a brief role in John Cassavetes‘s 1962 film, Too Late Blues.

june_wilkinson_0060In December 1962, Wilkinson made her last appearance in Playboy, though her photos would continue to appear in the magazine in anniversary and retrospective features. Though she was never an official Playmate, she was featured in the magazine on seven separate occasions and was one of the magazine’s most popular photo subjects. She appeared in more than fifty other men’s magazines and newspapers from 1958–1970, making her one of the most well photographed models of the era.

Wilkinson was the star of director Myron Gold’s 1963 film, La Rabia or The Rage. Directed in Mexico City, the film has Wilkinson as a stripper with a gigolo boyfriend. She met Dan Pastorini, NFL quarterback for the Houston Oilers and Oakland Raiders in 1972, and they were married in 1973. They co-starred in the 1974 film Florida Connection (also known as Weed), for the producer of Rage. The couple divorced in 1982, and Wilkinson never remarried. She has a daughter, Brahna.

In 1997, in her late 50’s, June came back for another nude shoot in The Best of Glamour Girls: Then and Now vol. 2 (Winter 1997). In 1999 when Playboy published its list of the “100 Sexiest Stars of the Century,” June came in at #30. Currently she hosts “The Directors,” a cable show in which she interviews filmmakers. She’s also putting together a show about the history of fashion called “Glamour’s First 5000 Years.”

Kitten Natividad (born Francesca Isabel Natividad on February 14, 1948) is a Mexican American film actress and exotic dancer, noted for her 44-inch chest and appearances in cult films by her ex-partner, director Russ Meyer.

Natividad was born in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, the eldest of nine children, and did not speak English until she was 10. At that time her mother married a U.S. citizen and they moved to Texas. Natividad attended high school in El Paso, where she was her senior class president.

Early years

After moving to California, she worked as a maid and cook for Stella Stevens and as a key punch operator for IBM before turning to go-go dancing to make ends meet. Her stage name Kitten came from her shyness. At age 21, she had her first breast implant surgery in Tijuana, where it was legal, in order to move into topless dancing. Due to the tragic results of the breast enhancements she deeply regretted having been talked into doing it.

Career

Kitten Natividad was introduced to Russ Meyer by fellow dancer Shari Eubank, a performer in Meyer’s 1975 film Supervixens. Meyer hired her as the narrator of his movie Up!, where she was shown sitting nude in a tree, quoting the poetry of Hilda Doolittle and acting as a Greek chorus to the nonsensical action. Meyer was so 01532_kitten2

impressed he wanted her to star in his next feature, Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens (one of several collaborations between Meyer and film critic Roger Ebert). He paid for a second breast enhancement and voice lessons to eliminate her accent. She left her husband for Meyer during the filming, and they lived together as a couple for most of the next 15 years.

After this, Natividad moved into pornographic modeling, mainly doing glamour or girl-girl shoots with the likes of Candy Samples, Uschi Digard, and Patty Plenty. The appearances increased her dancing income many times over. She incorporated a giant champagne glass into her act (similar to Lili St. Cyr), accompanied by Bobby Darin hit "Splish Splash".

In 1970-1980s she took part in some short-footage "sexy wrestling" films, mainly with companies like Curtis Dont[citation needed] and Triumph Studios. During the 1980s, Natividad began appearing in hardcore productions, initially limiting her performances to appearing topless, but eventually doing hardcore performances, usually with younger men. She also founded the private photo and video studio Kitten Klub. She famously appeared as a stripper at the bachelor party held by Sean Penn to celebrate his 1985 marriage to Madonna.

In Pop Culture

Kitten Natividad appeared on The Gong Show in the late 1970s.  She appeared in a 1980s music video for Mitch Ryder’s version of the song, "When You Were Mine", which was written by Prince. Kitten Natividad had a noteworthy topless scene as a prostitute in the film My Tutor, where the sight of her large bosom causes her young client to pass out for some moments, only to regain consciousness and pass out indefinitely as soon as he actually touches it.

In August 2006, Kitten Natividad appeared in Playboy in "The History of Bikinis"

Selected Filmography

Kitten Natividad has appeared in more than 65 films and video productions. Career highlights and major studio features include:

Janet Pilgrim (born Charlaine Karalus June 13, 1934 in Wheaton, Illinois) is an American model and office worker for Playboy. She was chosen as Playboy’s Playmate of the Month three times: July 1955, December 1955 and October 1956.

In 1955 Playboy was in its second year of production and had previously used professional models as Playmates. Karalus worked for Hugh Hefner in the subscription department and agreed to pose for the July 1955 episode in exchange for a new addressograph for the office. Hefner reportedly chose the name "Janet Pilgrim" as to make fun of sexual puritanism.

Karalus appeared topless with a tuxedo clad man reported to be Hefner in the background with his back to the camera. The caption read in part: "We found Miss July in our own circulation department, processing subscriptions, renewals, and back copy orders. Her name is Janet Pilgrim and she’s as efficient as she is good looking."

Readers responded well to her appearance as Miss July and sent in letters asking for more Janet Pilgrim. Despite getting offers to model for outside agencies, Janet chose to appear twice more as a Playmate and was listed on Playboy’s masthead as head of reader’s services department for the next 10 years. Hefner at one point offered a personal phone call from Pilgrim in exchange for enrollment in a lifetime subscription to his magazine.

Pilgrim is said the be the prototype of the "girl next door" approach to Playboy Playmates from that time onward.

Nice blog this, run by a bloke calling himself DD-19. Not much of a writer Mr DD, but a picture is worth a thousand words they say, and I for one enjoyed my visit to Vintage RETRO Nylon
