When something of general interest happens somewhere in New York city, NBC sends out their mobile television transmitter so that the recordings can reach the viewers directly. The car, a customized Cadillac, is in radio contact with the head quarter and can be sent to any site of interest within minutes. A technician and a camera man works from platforms and as the cameraman starts filming the images reach the viewers at home.

The mobile unit gets it’s power from a generator in the cars trunk and can transmit over a distance of 30 kilometers. Besides the camera man and the driver, the car has an antenna technician, a movie technician who controls the picture quality and a camera man operating a smaller camera for details. The cameraman has a microphone also so the events are being commented as they film.

This mobile television transmitter which can be operated as the car moves, has become very popular in America, even though it costs as much as 110.000 $.
